The Contest at Mt. Carmel (1 Kings 18.16-40)
A Biblical Hebrew dramatic cartoon about the contest between Elijah and the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel in the north of Israel as recorded in 1 Kings 18. Both parties have to pray to their God to consume the presented sacrifice by fire. This story contains the famous Hebrew phrase אִם־יְהוָה הָאֱלֹהִים לְכוּ אַחֲרָיו וְאִם־הַבַּעַל לְכוּ אַחֲרָיו ʾim ʾadonay haʾelohim lexu ʾaḥarav veʾim habaʿal lexu ʾaḥarav ‘if the LORD is God, follow him, but if Baal, follow him!’.
